Organization: Plan International UK
Country: United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland
Closing date: 29 Aug 2017

Plan International UK strives to advance children’s rights and equality for girls all over the world. Working together with children, young people, our supporters and partners, we strive for a just world, tackling the root causes of the challenges facing girls and all vulnerable children. We have been building powerful partnerships for children for 80 years, and are now active in more than 70 countries.

The Policy and Programmes Directorate supports our aims by ensuring that we deliver the highest quality policy and programmes. We constantly enhance programme quality and effectiveness, raise income from institutional donors (like the British Government), and drive change through setting and influencing policy agendas. Sitting within the Directorate, the Development Programmes Unit (DPU) supports Country Offices by helping them to design high quality programmes, and by raising the funds from institutional donors needed to implement them.

This is an exciting time to join us as a Programme Development Specialist, as we implement a range of ambitious plans designed to make us ‘the’ best among our peers.

In the role you will identify and proactively generate opportunities from new and existing institutional donors, and lead on the development of high-quality grant and commercial tender submissions. You will also support project initiation and handover to implementation teams once funding is secured. Your areas of focus will be Asia and West Africa, but there will be the need for flexibility to work with other areas as requested, particularly when there are surges of work with certain countries.

You will have experience of developing high quality proposals and/or tenders for institutional donors (particularly DFID, multilaterals or the EC) and of working remotely with multiple countries and partners to develop proposals and tenders within tight time frames. Experience of living and working in developing countries would be advantageous, as would the ability to communicate clearly and concisely in French.

The deadline for applications is 9:00am on Tuesday 29 August 2017

Interviews will take place on Monday 11 September 2017

Due to the nature of our work with children, we follow rigorous child protection policies and procedures in our recruitment process. As a result, some of our roles are subject to an Enhanced Disclosure by the Disclosure and Barring Service. A criminal record will not necessarily bar you from joining us as an employee or volunteer; this will depend on the circumstances of any offences.
