As the UK Programme Development Officer you will design exciting new UK programmes for Plan’s UK girls’ rights work and identify and secure funding for its delivery. Under the strategic direction of the Head of Girls’ Rights and Youth and the UK Girls’ Rights Campaign Manager, you will be part of a team creating a vision for girls’ rights programming in the UK.
As part of this team you will be designing programmes for adolescent girls and boys, young women and men in school and youth settings with the aim of promoting girls’ rights, eliminating violence against girls and supporting all young people to fulfil their potential. Working closely with programme management and fundraising teams across Plan UK’s Programme and Public Engagement Departments you will generate income for UK Girls’ Rights work, as well as developing potential partnerships in this field. You will scope and evaluate new opportunities from institutional donors and from companies, trusts and major donors.
As the UK Programme Development Officer you will have the opportunity to help shape a portfolio of projects ensuring the best possible impact for girls in the UK. You will personally project manage the development of compelling, high quality donor concept notes, proposals and budgets. You will also ensure that projects are aligned with UK and global strategy and standards, that project learning is shared and most importantly, that projects are implemented according to agreed objectives and donor contracts.
It’s a permanent post at 34.5 hours a week – we finish at 4.30pm on a Friday. We are based in Old Street, London (Finsgate, 5-7 Cranwood Street to be precise)
The successful candidate will have a strong commitment to gender equality and a high level of understanding of what works to engage young people. Experience of Commissioning will be an advantage. Ideal candidates will have a creative drive for innovative practice with young people. They will have a commitment to evidence based quality projects that meet the needs of young people and meaningfully and positively impact their lives. You will have experience of designing and developing high quality proposals and implementation of programmes in the UK (including M&E frameworks) and donor budgets. You will also have experience of managing a project grant portfolio, supporting partners to deliver against objectives throughout the project cycle. You will have experience of developing high quality proposals and/or tenders for institutional donors. You will bring a passion for Plan’s work, an ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast paced environment and a positive, solution focused attitude.

The usual recruitment rate for this post (Grade 3) is £37,427 with future pay progression within the pay band from £37,427 to £39,346.
Our annual leave entitlement starts at 25 days (plus public holidays) for new starters. It goes up to 30 once you’ve been with us for 6 years.
We match contributions up to 7.5% on the pension scheme and will automatically enrol anyone who has not elected to join the scheme in the third pay period of their employment, currently at a rate of 1% contributions for you and for Plan.
