Position Description
This is a key leadership role within the Department, leading a team of thematic and technical specialists, and programme and advocacy managers. The Unit is responsible for proposal writing and programme design, technical advice and advocacy and policy work. The focus of the role will be to provide shared leadership to the team and to work with others to ensure the delivery of the objectives set out in Plan UK’s new programme and SRHR strategy, covering the period 2014 – 2020
Required Experience
We are looking for someone who will be able to contribute new ways of thinking at a high level within the organisation, and also be capable of representing Plan UK externally in the SRHR field. You will have significant senior leadership experience, particularly in relation to programme management, some of which should have been obtained living and working overseas in a development role. You should have experience of leading and managing multi-disciplinary teams, and developing their capacity to contribute to the work of the organisation and to influence partners. You will also be confident at instigating policy and programme change, and communicating effectively with donors, the wider development community, and research institutions.
We are looking for someone who is committed to the realisation of adolescent girls’ rights, particularly in the field of SRHR and who has a track record in developing and managing successful programme opportunities.
Salary and Benefits
The usual recruitment rate for this post (Grade 1) is £55,395 (pro-rata) with future pay progression within the pay band from £55,395 to £58,236 (pro-rata).
Our annual leave entitlement starts at 25 days (plus public holidays) for new starters. It goes up to 30 once you’ve been with us for 5 years.
We match contributions up to 7.5% on the pension scheme and will automatically enrol anyone who has not elected to join the scheme in the third pay period of their employment, currently at a rate of 1% contributions for you and for Plan.
