Country: United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland
Closing date: 08 May 2016
Position Description
The post is Grants Accountant and you’ll be in the Finance department.
Plan has experienced significant growth in its portfolio of donor-funded awards over recent years, and has identified bidding for and delivering high-value commercial contracts as a significant opportunity to increase our impact for children in the world’s poorest countries. As a member of the Grants Finance team, you will report to the Grants Finance Manager, and be part of a team providing high-quality support to the Programme and Public Engagement directorates to allow them to manage the finance and compliance risks associated with our grants and contracts. You will work closely with the Programme Heads , managers and officers, and county office finance teams.
It’s a permanent contract and it’s a full time post at 34.5 hours a week – we finish at 4.30pm on a Friday.
Required Experience
As our overall portfolio – in particular, the commercial contracts element – grows, the breadth and complexity of support Finance provides to the organisation has increased significantly as well as the overall volume. To ensure an appropriate mix of skills, we are open to applications from candidates with commercial experience as well as those with an INGO background.
You will ideally have experience of finance and contract management within the international development sector, specifically with donors such as DFID, EC and Big Lottery Fund, and will be familiar with cost recovery, value for money and payment-by-results approaches.
Irrespective of background, the successful candidate will have experience of working in a fast-paced and demanding finance department dealing with financial analysis, reconciliation and reporting for large, complex projects. You will combine strong technical expertise with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, a flexible approach and a passion for the INGO sector.
Please note: to apply for a position with Plan UK, you must be eligible to live and work in the United Kingdom (in accordance with the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006). Most importantly, we follow stringent child protection policies and procedures when dealing with applications.
Salary and Benefits
As there is a market premium rate for this post (Grade 3) the recruitment rate will be circa £39,000. However, we will consider paying at the top of the pay band or into the discretionary zone (depending on relevant skills and experience)
Our annual leave entitlement starts at 25 days (plus public holidays) for new starters. It goes up to 30 once you’ve been with us for 6 years.
