Country: United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland
Closing date: 18 Feb 2019
Plan International UK is a global children’s charity. We work to give every child the same chance in life.
The Policy and Programmes Directorate supports our aims by ensuring that we deliver the highest quality policy and programmes. We constantly enhance programme quality and effectiveness, raise income from institutional donors (like the British Government), and drive change through setting and influencing policy agendas. Sitting within the Directorate, the Development Programmes Unit (DPU) supports Country Offices by helping them to design high quality programmes, and by raising the funds from institutional donors needed to implement them.
This is an exciting time to join us as a Regional Programme Development Manager, as we implement a range of ambitious plans designed to make us ‘the’ best among our peers. We are recruiting for two positions; one will focus on Asia and West Africa, with the other focusing on East and Southern Africa.
You will manage a team of three to produce high quality proposals and bidding processes, raising funds from a range of bilateral and multilateral donors including, but not limited to DFID, the EU, UNICEF, World Bank. You will play a key role in driving donor liaison and have hands on engagement with particular proposal development processes where required. You will also develop proactive funding pitches to donors in areas which align with Plan International UK’s priorities, and lead on gathering intelligence and pre-positioning for upcoming opportunities, ensuring that a healthy opportunity pipeline is both generated and maintained.
With a successful track record of pre-positioning, developing, and winning institutional donor funding in a competitive setting (particularly from DFID, the EC or multilateral donors), you will have demonstrable experience of working in and designing innovative new projects in a development or relief context in Asia and/or Africa, and of gender sensitive and transformative programming approaches. You will also have experience of leading and coaching staff to ensure that multidisciplinary teams work effectively together and that team targets are achieved.
Some overseas travel is envisaged for donor liaison and programme development (estimated at approximately 25% of working time).
The deadline for applications is 9:00am on Monday 18 February 2019
Interviews will take place during week commencing Tuesday 26 February 2019
Due to the nature of our work with children, we follow rigorous child protection policies and procedures in our recruitment process. As a result, some of our roles are subject to an Enhanced Disclosure by the Disclosure and Barring Service. A criminal record will not necessarily bar you from joining us as an employee or volunteer; this will depend on the circumstances of any offences.
