Country: United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland
Closing date: 19 Feb 2019

12-month fixed term contract

Plan International UK is a global children’s charity. We work to give every child the same chance in life.

Our Disaster Risk Management Unit supports our country offices to design and deliver quality programmes, assisting with the development of strong donor relationships, and providing technical support for humanitarian work. We are recruiting a Gender in Emergencies Adviser to support the development of high-quality gender and education programming in humanitarian settings.

In this role, you will provide gender technical support to the delivery of programmes, regularly reviewing proposals and providing input to ensure all new proposals are gender sensitive at a minimum. You will also actively seek out and support the growth of opportunities through engagement with country offices and with relevant internal and external gender working groups. This will include developing an engagement plan with a prioritised multilateral agency to support growth of income, presence and projects.

With strong experience of influencing and creating change around gender sensitive/transformative programming at field and global level in humanitarian settings, you will have a track record of designing, delivering and monitoring girl centred programmes, including in a range of different emergencies. You will have knowledge of good practice in relation to girls’ education in fragile and conflict-affected contexts and of Gender, Protection, SGBV, and Education in Emergencies programming and issues.

The deadline for applications is 9:00am on Tuesday 19 February 2019

Interviews will take place during week commencing 25 February 2019

Due to the nature of our work with children, we follow rigorous child protection policies and procedures in our recruitment process. As a result, some of our roles are subject to an Enhanced Disclosure by the Disclosure and Barring Service. A criminal record will not necessarily bar you from joining us as an employee or volunteer; this will depend on the circumstances of any offences.
