Consortium Programme Manager (Education)

2-4 year fixed term contract (dependent on project duration)

Plan International UK strives to advance children’s rights and equality for girls all over the world. Working together with children, young people, our supporters and partners, we strive for a just world, tackling the root causes of the challenges facing girls and all vulnerable children. We have been building powerful partnerships for children for 80 years, and are now active in more than 70 countries.

The Policy and Programmes Directorate supports our aims by ensuring that we deliver the highest quality policy and programmes. We constantly enhance programme quality and effectiveness, raise income from institutional donors (like the British Government), and drive change through setting and influencing policy agendas. Sitting within the Directorate, the Development Programmes Unit (DPU) supports Country Offices by helping them to design high quality programmes, and by raising the funds from institutional donors needed to implement them.

We are seeking to build our education programme management capacity, with applicants being considered for specific roles that are anticipated in the coming months, conditional upon securing donor funding.

As Consortium Programme Manager (Education), you will provide overall coordination of a multi-million pound project funded by one of our institutional donors (e.g. DFID, EC). You will coordinate activities across one or more target countries to ensure the efficient and effective delivery of the programme and reporting to donors in line with the project contract. Working closely with consortium partners, you will represent the consortium at UK and international level to all relevant stakeholders, including the project steering committee.

You will have extensive experience of managing complex international development projects in close collaboration with other NGOs or private sector agencies, with responsibility for multi-million pound budgets. You will have proven experience in education, (particularly in girls’ education) be able to demonstrate how you have used and shared programme learning to improve practice.

With experience of living and working in developing countries, you will be willing to travel to the programme country or countries for up to 25% of the time.

Deadline for applications: 9:00am on Tuesday 9 January 2018. Initial screening interviews may be held before this date.

Due to the nature of our work with children, we follow rigorous child protection policies and procedures in our recruitment process. As a result, some of our roles are subject to an Enhanced Disclosure by the Disclosure and Barring Service. A criminal record will not necessarily bar you from joining us as an employee or volunteer; this will depend on the circumstances of any offences.
