Organization: Plan International UK
Country: United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland
Closing date: 06 Nov 2017

Plan International UK strives to advance children’s rights and equality for girls all over the world. Working together with children, young people, our supporters and partners, we strive for a just world, tackling the root causes of the challenges facing girls and all vulnerable children. We have been building powerful partnerships for children for 80 years, and are now active in more than 70 countries.

Plan International UK is a leader in the development of the global disasters work of Plan. Our Disaster Risk Management Unit (DRMU) supports our country offices to design and deliver quality programmes, assisting with the development of strong donor relationships, and providing technical support for humanitarian work.

We have an opportunity for a Programme Specialist to support the development of our disasters and emergencies work with particular responsibility for ensuring the mainstreaming of Education in Emergencies (EiE) across the programme portfolio. This will include development and management of a significant part of our disasters grants portfolio, acting as the Education in Emergencies focal point for DRMU and helping to raise our profile as a humanitarian actor.

You will have experience of designing and implementing disaster/emergency projects, in linewith institutional donors’ requirements and expectations, as well as substantial experience of developing and overseeing grant funded programmes across all phases of the programme cycle. Good analytical and problem solving skills, strong knowledge of Education in Emergencies programming and the ability to travel to Country Offices for up to 30% of the time are essential. The ability to communicate in French or Spanish is desirable.

The deadline for applications is 9:00am on Monday 6 November 2017

Interviews will take place on Wednesday 15 November 2017

Due to the nature of our work with children, we follow rigorous child protection policies and procedures in our recruitment process. As a result, some of our roles are subject to an Enhanced Disclosure by the Disclosure and Barring Service. A criminal record will not necessarily bar you from joining us as an employee or volunteer; this will depend on the circumstances of any offences.
