Organization: Plan International UK
Country: United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland
Closing date: 06 Sep 2017

Plan International UK strives to advance children’s rights and equality for girls all over the world. Working together with children, young people, our supporters and partners, we strive for a just world, tackling the root causes of the challenges facing girls and all vulnerable children. We have been building powerful partnerships for children for 80 years, and are now active in more than 70 countries.

The Policy and Programmes Directorate supports our aims by ensuring that we deliver the highest quality policy and programmes. We constantly enhance programme quality and effectiveness, raise income from institutional donors (like the British Government), and drive change through setting and influencing policy agendas.

Our Disaster Risk Management Unit (DRMU) supports our country offices to design and deliver quality programmes, assisting with the development of strong donor relationships, and providing technical support for humanitarian work.

We have an opportunity for a Programme Specialist to support the development of our disasters and emergencies work. You will work across various areas, including grant management, programme development, and relationship building to develop and manage a significant part of Plan International UK’s disasters grants portfolio, and raising the profile of the organisation as a humanitarian actor.

You will have experience of designing and implementing disaster/emergency projects, in line with institutional donors’ requirements and expectations, as well as developing and overseeing grant funded programmes across all phases of the programme cycle. Good analytical and problem solving skills, knowledge of gender- and age-sensitive approaches to emergency response and a second language (particularly French and/or Spanish) are all essential for the role.

The deadline for applications is 9:00am on Wednesday 6 September 2017

Interviews will take place on 19th and 20th of September 2017

Due to the nature of our work with children, we follow rigorous child protection policies and procedures in our recruitment process. As a result, some of our roles are subject to an Enhanced Disclosure by the Disclosure and Barring Service. A criminal record will not necessarily bar you from joining us as an employee or volunteer; this will depend on the circumstances of any offences.
