Plan UK’s ASRHR advisor will be located in the SRHR (Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights) unit, one of four units in our Programmes Department.

The Advisor will provide technical and thought leadership to all Plan departments, helping to ensure that current good practice and innovative approaches are reflected in all stages of project cycle management. They will support the design, development and submission of new fundraising proposals, and so help build our SRHR programme portfolio. They will support quality delivery of existing SRHR programmes including the DfID-PPA funded, Building Skills for Life programme.

This role provides technical support and capacity building to UK-based staff and country office staff to ensure the successful delivery of projects and programmes. It will also develop effective monitoring and evaluation processes that capture the outputs, outcomes and impact of our work. The Advisor will engage with Plan International’s staff working on SRHR to support the further development of the Federation’s work on this area, ensure strategic alignment of SRHR work around the organisation, and that good practice is shared across the wider Plan federation, and with outside organisations.

Some overseas travel to developing countries is envisaged.

This is a 12 month maternity cover, full-time post at 34.5 hours a week – we finish at 4.30pm on a Friday. Our office is close to Old Street, London. (Finsgate, 5-7 Cranwood Street, EC1V 9LS)

Our ideal candidate will have a Masters’ degree in a SRHR-related subject (or equivalent experience), alongside significant experience of designing or providing technical advice to SRHR programmes in developing countries, ideally with a focus on youth. They will have worked successfully in teams in a multi-country, multi-cultural and multi-disciplinary context. Experience of having lived and worked in developing countries, and worked closely with local partners or country office staff would be an additional bonus.

The usual recruitment rate for this post (Grade 2) is £43,722 with future pay progression within the pay band from £43,722 to £45,965

Our annual leave entitlement starts at 25 days (plus public holidays) for new starters, increasing up to 30 days through years of service.

We match contributions up to 7.5% on the pension scheme and will automatically enrol anyone who has not elected to join the scheme in the third pay period of their employment, currently at a rate of 1% contributions for you and for Plan.
