Plan International UK is a global children’s charity. We work to give every child the same chance in life.
Our Disaster Risk Management Unit (DRMU) supports our country offices to design and deliver quality programmes, assisting with the development of strong donor relationships, and providing technical support for humanitarian work.
We have an opportunity for a Programme Specialist to support the development of our disasters and emergencies work with particular responsibility for ensuring the mainstreaming of gender in emergencies across the programme portfolio. This will include development and management of a significant part of our disasters grants portfolio, acting as the gender in emergencies focal point for DRMU and helping to raise our profile as a humanitarian actor.
You will have experience of designing and implementing disaster/emergency projects with a particular focus on Gender in Emergencies and equality and in line with institutional donors’ requirements and expectations. You will also have developed and overseen grant funded programmes across all phases of the programme cycle and worked on humanitarian responses. Good analytical and problem solving skills, strong knowledge of gender in emergencies mechanisms and of integration of gender in programming are all essential for the role.
The deadline for applications is 9:00am on Thursday 25 April 2019
Interviews will take place on Wednesday 8 May 2019
Due to the nature of our work with children, we follow rigorous child protection policies and procedures in our recruitment process. As a result, some of our roles are subject to an Enhanced Disclosure by the Disclosure and Barring Service. A criminal record will not necessarily bar you from joining us as an employee or volunteer; this will depend on the circumstances of any offences.
