Background
Plan International UK is a global children’s charity. We work to give every child the same chance in life. In every child there is a spark of imagination, curiosity and ambition. But not every child is born with the same opportunities.
When you face violence or poverty the odds are stacked against you. When you are a girl it is even harder to be safe, to be in school, and to be in charge of your body. We work with young people to ensure they gain the skills, knowledge and confidence they need to claim their rights and lead fulfilling lives. We engage communities to support all young people to realise their basic rights to safety and well-being, a high-quality education, and their economic rights to access decent and sustainable work opportunities.
Inclusivity is a central pillar of our work and we place a specific focus on girls and women, who most often face disproportionate challenges to accessing opportunities and realising their rights.
Plan International has been designing and implementing projects, carrying out research, and influencing policy and practice for over 75 years across 70 countries in Asia, Africa, and the Americas.
